Ballot boxes, ballot papers, and other essential voting materials were transported via helicopters to 11 remote polling centres in Bandarban on Sunday ahead of the 13th parliamentary election.
According to the Bandarban district election office, the deployment was carried out throughout the day to ensure materials reached the most remote areas of the region.
While the first phase focused on the delivery of equipment, polling officials were not sent during these initial sorties; they are scheduled to be transported to their respective centres during a second phase of helicopter flights on Wednesday.
Reports from Thanchi indicate that a military helicopter reached the upazila headquarters around 12:30pm to receive materials for seven polling centres.
In Ruma upazila, the assistant returning officer and upazila nirbahi officer oversaw the dispatch of supplies to two remote centres, with officials from the upazila election office in attendance.
The logistics operation covers a total of 11 centres in Bandarban — seven in Thanchi, two in Ruma, one in Alikadam, and one in Rowangchhari. Military helicopters will be used to transport all ballot boxes, papers, and election materials, as well as the personnel required to conduct voting in these isolated locations.
