Nicolas Cage’s live-action run as the Marvel web-slinger has ended after one season, but Spider-Noir co-creator Oren Uziel has not ruled out a possible revival, writes Screen Rant.
Prime Video cancelled the series only days after its Emmy success. Speaking to Variety, Uziel said it was too early to know whether the show could return on Amazon’s platform or be shopped to another outlet by Sony Pictures Television.
“We haven’t gotten there yet. I literally do not know the legalities and complications of that. But I expect that it’s a complicated proposition,” he said.
Uziel also described making Spider-Noir as the best professional experience of his life. His biggest regret, he said, is not being able to reunite the same cast and crew for another season.
The creator explained that the team deliberately gave the series a self-contained ending because they did not know whether a second season would be commissioned.
The finale was designed to follow the structure of classic noir stories, where a case begins with a client arriving at a private detective’s office and ends once the mystery is solved.
“We made a very closed-ended show,” Uziel said, adding that the series felt like “a long movie”.
Although Cage’s time as Ben Reilly is over, Prime Video and Sony Pictures Television are developing other live-action Spider-Man projects.
Uziel said he would be interested in advising or contributing to those projects, having experienced both the challenges and rewards of making Spider-Noir.
The studios have yet to announce their next live-action Spider-Man series, although Variety previously reported that one project is already in development and could be announced soon.
