Uttara University’s Law Department has launched two initiatives, namely, Legal Practice Lab Training and Access to Justice through Community ADR Linkages and Legal Awareness, to strengthen practical legal education and promote community access to dispute resolution.
The initiatives were inaugurated by School of Arts and Social Sciences Dean Syeda Afroza Zerin at a ceremony attended by faculty members and students, said a press release.
The Legal Practice Lab Training aims to complement classroom education with practical exposure to courtroom practices, judicial proceedings, legal techniques and professional skills.
The ADR initiative seeks to promote legal awareness within the community, encourage use of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and establish linkages among legal academics, practitioners, judicial professionals, students and community stakeholders.
The programmes were conceptualised under the supervision of Associate Professor Omar Faruk Munshi and are being implemented under Department Chairman Md Faruk Hossain.
The department expects the initiatives to contribute to developing competent, practice-oriented and socially responsible legal professionals.
