Two leaders of Awami League and its volunteer wing, Swechasebak League, in Gopalganj have announced their resignation from their respective organisational posts during a press conference.
The announcement was made on Saturday at Gopalganj District Press Club by Md Ikramuzzaman Mina, vice-president of Sadar Upazila Swechasebak League, and Rasel Molla, organisational secretary of Ulpur Union Awami League.
In a written statement, the leaders said they are no longer interested in maintaining a relationship with the organisations due to personal reasons.
They added that they are voluntarily and consciously severing all organisational ties with the party and resigning from their positions.
The outgoing leaders further clarified that from this moment onwards, they will not be involved in any party activities nor will they provide any cooperation to the party’s programmes.
While addressing the journalists present at the press conference, they did not cite any specific reason for their resignation beyond personal grounds.
