Two people, including an autorickshaw driver, were killed after a truck ran over the three-wheeler in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria on Friday morning.
The crash took place at Boddabazar on the Sarail–Nasirnagar regional road. The deceased were identified as autorickshaw driver Mohammad Yusuf, 50, and passenger Muslim Mia, 52, both from Moind village of Majlishpur Union in Sadar upazila.
Police and locals said Muslim Mia hired Yusuf’s autorickshaw in the morning to go to Sarail market to buy wholesale vegetables.
On the way, a fish-laden truck heading towards Nasirnagar hit the autorickshaw from the opposite direction, killing both on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and brought them to the police station.
Sarail Police Station Officer-in-Charge Morshedul Alam said the truck has been seized and the driver detained. “Legal action is underway,” he added.
