A new spy thriller titled ‘Cactus’, directed by Shihab Shaheen, is set to arrive on Chorki this Eid season, bringing together two popular faces from the entertainment industry: Mehazabien Chowdhury and Pritom Hasan in lead roles.
The first trailer for Cactus was released on March 13, offering a glimpse of a tense storyline centred on cyber warfare and national security. The narrative follows a skilled hacker named Mansiv, portrayed by Pritom . The trailer also hints at a connection to the universe of Allen Swapon from Shaheen’s dark comedy-thriller series ‘Myself Allen Swapan’.
Despite being imprisoned, Mansiv is drawn back into the world of hacking when authorities seek his help to deal with a major national crisis.
Speaking about the role, Pritom said the character undergoes a compelling transformation throughout the story. According to him, viewers will be eager to see how Mansiv’s journey unfolds as the plot progresses.
Mehazabien appears as Anura, a character that presents the actress in a new light. Known for her performances in television dramas, she takes on a far more physically demanding role in this project. The actress said the part required her to perform action sequences unlike anything she had attempted before.
The series has been developed by Shahin along with a team of writers including Al-Amin, Hasan Nirjhar, Adar Rahman, Asaduzzaman Abir and Rezwan Kabir. Shahin also wrote the screenplay.
Alongside the lead pair, the cast features Salauddin Lavlu, Munira Yusuf Memi, Manas Banerjee, Naziba Bashar, Shahdat Hossain, Arifin Jilani, Zahidul Haque Apu and Sanjida Tasnim.
Cactus will begin streaming on Chorki at midnight on March 17.
