BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has stated the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to Bangladesh is a “family matter.”
Speaking to reporters after a prayer session at Sardar Para Jame Mosque in Kurigram Sadar Upazila on Friday, Rizvi said, “Tarique Rahman’s return is a family matter. His mother is going through a difficult time, and whether he thinks about returning or anything else is entirely their family’s concern.”
Rizvi, who was addressing questions regarding Tarique Rahman’s return, also referred to him as the leader of the common people.
He added, “When the appropriate time comes, Tarique Rahman will return whenever he feels it is the right time.”
The BNP leader emphasised that, at this moment, the party’s primary focus is the recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“She has sacrificed so much, endured many hardships, and remained in the country out of love for the people. No situation has ever been able to shake her resolve,” Rizvi said.
He continued, “Today, not only in Bangladesh but around the world, people are praying for her recovery. This shows that a leader who loves the people is never forgotten.”
Rizvi also commented on the efforts made in the past to remove Khaleda Zia, saying, “She was imprisoned in a false case and abandoned in a prison.
She faced multiple forms of torture and global pressure. Yet, no fascist repression from Hasina could ever diminish her courage, her commitment, or her love for the people.”
In response to another question, Rizvi confirmed that BNP is still fully committed to holding the election before Ramadan, unless there is a major crisis. “BNP is ready for the election,” he concluded.
