Veteran actor Tariq Anam Khan joins Tribunal, an upcoming courtroom drama directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Raihan Khan. The film is rooted in a real and deeply disturbing crime.
It is inspired by a 2011 incident in Chattogram, where a woman was burned to death after kerosene was poured on her body. Tribunal revisits a case that once shocked the nation but gradually faded from public memory.
The film examines the crime and the long legal battle that followed. It focuses on women’s oppression and their often silent struggle for justice.
Raihan Khan, known as a cinematographer, writer, and producer, makes his directorial debut with Tribunal. He previously wrote and produced popular television dramas and scripted Mridha vs Mridha, released in 2021. His Hoichoi series Dour also received critical acclaim.
The film features Nusraat Faria, Tania Brishti, Moushumi Hamid, and Saira Akhter Jahan in central roles.
The makers announced the project earlier at a press conference in Dhaka. The latest update confirms Tariq Anam Khan’s addition. He plays a character named Gias and has already joined the shoot, which is in its final phase across multiple Chattogram locations.
Tariq Anam Khan praised Raihan Khan’s storytelling and visual style. He said the film gives voice to countless women whose stories rarely reach the headlines, despite once drawing national attention. He described Tribunal as a powerful story about murder, memory, and the justice system, rooted in real events that deserve renewed scrutiny.
Producer Raihan Khan revealed that around 90 percent of shooting is complete. The remaining portions will wrap soon.
The cast also includes Rakib Hossain Yvon, Milan Bhattacharya, Shahed Ali, Ashok Bepari, Saberi Alam, and Upma in supporting roles.
Produced under Nineties Productions, Tribunal is scheduled for release during Eid ul Fitr.
