Syed Zubayer Ahmed has joined National Bank PLC as deputy managing director, effective November 3. Before joining National Bank, he served as vice president and head of international regulatory reporting at Qatar National Bank (QNB) in Doha, the largest financial institution in the GCC and MENA regions.
With over 25 years of experience in finance, accounting, risk management, and strategic control, Ahmed has held senior roles at major local and international banks.
At Citibank N.A. Bangladesh, he served as resident vice president of financial control, overseeing planning, budgeting, and IFRS-based reporting.
He later became senior vice president and head of finance at Eastern Bank, where he helped automate its financial operations. He also led the finance department at Delta Brac Housing Finance Corporation, contributing to its financial restructuring.
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), UK, Ahmed holds an executive MBA in finance from North South University. He is an accredited Bangladesh Bank trainer on asset-liability management and has completed international training on IFRS, derivatives, and project management.
Ahmed’s appointment adds depth to National Bank’s leadership team as it strengthens financial governance and compliance across its operations.
