Fans have been eagerly anticipating the sequel to the popular Hoichoi web series ‘Golam Mamun’, which was widely praised following its 2024 release. Last year, producer Shihab Shaheen confirmed that scripting for ‘Golam Mamun 2’ was underway, with plans to begin shooting soon.

New developments, however, reveal that Shihab Shaheen will not be returning as director for the second season. The sequel will instead be directed by Tanim Rahman Angshu.

While Hoichai has yet to make an official announcement, reliable sources indicate that the decision to change directors is final. Speaking to the media, Shaheen explained that he could not take on the project due to a lack of time. “Although I planned to start work on the series before Eid, I could not manage it as I currently have eight to ten projects in progress,” he said.

Golam Mamun originated as a spin-off of Angshu’s ‘Buker Moddhye Agun’ series. The first season starred Ziaul Faruk Apurba and Sabila Noor in central roles, with Fakhrul Bashar Masum, Charlene Farzana and Rashed Mamun Apu in supporting roles. Sources suggest that some cast members may be replaced under the new director.

With Tanim Rahman Angshu at the helm, Golam Mamun 2 is set to take a new creative direction, a change that has become the main topic of discussion among fans ahead of the sequel’s release.
