US Senator Bernie Sanders sharply criticised Washington’s Middle East policy, accusing the administration of aligning with the agenda of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and fuelling conflict in the region.
In a post on the social platform X, Sanders wrote, “Netanyahu wanted billions to flatten Gaza. He got it. Netanyahu wanted war with Iran. Donald Trump just gave it to him.”
“American foreign and military policy must be determined by the American people, not the right-wing extremist Netanyahu government,” he added.
Netanyahu wanted billions to flatten Gaza. He got it.
Netanyahu wanted war with Iran. Trump just gave it to him.
American foreign and military policy must be determined by the American people.
Not the right-wing extremist Netanyahu government.

His comments come amid growing political debate in the United States over the scale of Washington’s support for Israel, especially after the joint US-Israeli military strikes on Iran that have sharply escalated tensions and raised fears of a wider regional war.
Sanders has repeatedly tried in the Senate to halt US arms sales to Israel and has urged Washington to reassess its role in the conflict, saying US policy should prioritise human rights and diplomacy rather than military escalation.
