Rajshahi University (RU) will suspend all examinations from 9 to 15 February, while observing a two-day holiday on 11 and 12 February in line with government directives ahead of the national election and referendum.
Professor Akhtar Hossain Majumder, Administrator of the RU Public Relations Office, confirmed the decision on Tuesday.
He said the government has declared public holidays on 11 and 12 February under executive orders in view of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum scheduled for 12 February, and the same instructions have been communicated to the university departments.
The university administration has accordingly asked all departments to keep examinations suspended during the period from 9 to 15 February.
No decision has yet been taken regarding the suspension of classes or any additional holidays, he added.
Earlier, the government announced a special holiday for workers and employees in industrial areas on 10 February.
