Popular television duo Niloy Alamgir and Jannatul Sumaiya Heme are set to appear in a new avatar in the YouTube series Prothom Premer Golpo, directed by Tanvir Tanmoy.
The series combines corporate rivalry, romance, family secrets and revenge from the past. Tanmoy has deliberately moved the popular on-screen pair away from the images audiences usually associate with them.
Niloy will play industrialist Faiyaz Chowdhury, a character that marks a departure from his familiar clean-shaven appearance and comic roles. He will appear with a stylish beard as part of the character’s look.
Tanmoy said Niloy himself began growing a beard after hearing the proposal while he was in the United States.
“When I discussed the script and look with Niloy bhai, he was in America. After hearing the proposal, he started growing a beard himself. He later took photographs in the new look and sent them to me. When I saw them, I felt his appearance matched exactly how I had imagined Faiyaz Chowdhury,” the director said.
The production team also experimented with the actors’ costumes, hairstyles and overall appearance in consultation with the costume designer.
Heme plays Mehnaz Kabir, a young woman from a middle-class family. Farin Khan, Aliraj, Sujata, Shatabdi Wadud, Farzana Chumki and Tiger Robi are also part of the cast.
Shooting is currently underway in Uttara. The makers plan to release the series on Naz Entertainment’s YouTube channel later this month.
