Sangat Bangladesh will organise a memorial programme on 25 September to remember feminist, sociologist, teacher and poet Kamla Bhasin, who died on the same date in 2021.
Titled ‘Noyoner Majhkhane Niyechhe Je Thai’, the event will begin at 6pm at the main auditorium of Chhayanaut.
The organisers said Bhasin left behind not only memories but also a movement, a dream and a path for people seeking a more just and equal world.
The annual programme will celebrate her life, ideas, dreams and the impact she had on countless people. Rather than remembering her only through grief, the organisers said they will honour her legacy through music, dance and a spirit of solidarity.
Roshmi Goswami, a member of the Sangat core group, will deliver the memorial address. The programme will also feature a dance performance by Kalpataru, directed by Lubna Mariam.
Sangat Bangladesh has invited people to attend the event with their friends and families.
The organisers said Bhasin may no longer be physically present, but her ideas, songs and lifelong commitment to social change continue to inspire people.
