Bangladesh has a presence at the 2026 International Emmy Awards through Al Jazeera English’s current affairs programme Al Jazeera Investigates: Hasina: 36 Days in July, which has earned a nomination in the Current Affairs category.
The programme, produced by Al Jazeera English, represents Qatar in this year’s International Emmy nominations. It will compete against France’s Arte Reportage: My Father’s Hair, the UK’s Exposure: Breaking Ranks: Inside Israel’s War and Brazil’s Profissão Repórter: Feminice.
The 2026 nominations feature 64 nominees across 16 categories from 22 countries. India, the UK and Argentina have secured nominations in both the Drama Series and Comedy categories.
In Drama Series, the nominees are the UK’s A Thousand Blows, France’s Carême, Argentina’s Menem and India’s Real Kashmir Football Club. The Comedy Series line-up includes Argentina’s División Palermo – Season 2 (Community Squad), the UK’s Man vs Baby, Spain’s Old Dog, New Tricks and India’s Vir Das: Fool Volume.
India has two nominations overall, with Real Kashmir Football Club competing in Drama Series and Vir Das: Fool Volume in Comedy. The UK has several nominations, including Bobby Schofield for Best Performance by an Actor for Unforgivable and Sheridan Smith for Best Performance by an Actress for I Fought the Law.
British programmes including Live Aid at 40: When Rock ‘n’ Roll Took on the World, Louis Theroux: The Settlers, The World: 24 Hours in the Kill Zone and Prisoner 951 also received nominations.
Argentina’s Ricardo Darín is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor for The Eternaut. The country also features in both major scripted categories with División Palermo – Season 2 (Community Squad) in Comedy and Menem in Drama.
Other notable nominees include My Melody & Kuromi in Kids: Animation, Dexter Procter the Ten Year Old Doctor in Kids: Live-Action and Tom Daley: 1.6 Seconds in Sports Documentary.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will present the 2026 International Emmy Awards at a gala in New York City on 23 November.
