A clash broke out between students at Ideal College and Dhaka College in the capital over a trivial incident on Sunday.
The skirmish occurred around 12:15pm at the entrance of Green Road, adjacent to Science Lab.
The incident disrupted vehicular movement on all roads surrounding the Science Lab intersection.
Police personnel from Science Lab, New Market, Kalabagan, and Dhanmondi police stations have been deployed at separate locations across the area.
A water cannon has also been stationed to handle the situation.
New Market Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Aiyub said they are taking measures to ensure no untoward incidents occur.
“We have spoken with the authorities of both colleges and the students are currently remaining inside their respective college campuses,” he said.
However, the immediate reason triggering the clash between the two groups could not be confirmed right away.
