Bangladesh’s women’s hockey team are enduring a difficult Asian Games debut. They suffered an 8-0 defeat to South Korea in their Pool A match at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Japan on Wednesday.
Making their first appearance at the Asian Games, Bangladesh struggled to cope with South Korea’s attacking pressure from the start. The Korean players repeatedly tested Bangladesh’s defence and scored eight goals during the match.
Earlier, Bangladesh suffered a heavy 13-0 defeat to China before putting up a better fight against Malaysia. However, they eventually lost that match 3-1.
After three matches, Bangladesh have scored just one goal and conceded 24. Their goal difference now stands at 1-24.
Bangladesh have two matches remaining in Pool A, against Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei.
