A Dhaka money loan court has issued arrest warrants against the CEO, acting chief financial officer, and three directors of Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Limited, the operator of Citycell, in a loan recovery case filed by Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) PLC.
The Money Loan Court No. 7, Dhaka issued the warrants on Wednesday, directing Gulshan Police Station to arrest them and produce them before the court by 18 November.
The officials facing arrest warrants are Citycell CEO Mehboob Chowdhury, Directors Md Morshed, Asghar Karim and Nasreen Khan, and Acting Chief Financial Officer Md Farikul Hasan.
The warrants were issued in Money Execution Case No. 810/2026, according to court documents.
The court order was issued under Section 34(1) of the Money Loan Court Act 2003, under which the officials were listed as debtors in the execution case and face a six-month detention order.
MTB officials told TIMES that the bank’s claim in the case was Tk68 crore.
Pacific Bangladesh Telecom, which operated the Citycell brand, was Bangladesh’s first mobile phone operator. The company later faced operational and financial difficulties, leading to the suspension of its licence in 2016.
After the political changeover in 2024, the company claimed that it had been affected by political bias during the Awami League government’s tenure and applied for restoration of its business licence.
