Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive who was sentenced to life imprisonment in a narcotics case during an operation in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The convict is Jafar Alam, 40, of Shahparir Dwip under Sabrang union.
RAB‑15 Assistant Director (Law and Media) AM Faruk confirmed the arrest on Thursday.
Acting on a tip‑off, a team from CPC‑1 Teknaf camp raided Chowdhury Para in Ward‑4 of Sabrang union around 7:45pm Wednesday. Alam, long absconding after his conviction in a drug case, was caught during the operation.
RAB official Faruk said the arrested convict has been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
