State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has announced that the government will introduce “Math Labs” in public primary schools across the country in phases, aiming to strengthen students’ mathematics skills, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at an exchange of views meeting with students, teachers, and guardians following a visit to Glenrich International School in Satarkul (Badda), Dhaka, according to a press release.
Hajjaj said the world is rapidly shifting towards a technology-driven economy and a knowledge-based society, stressing that children must be prepared from an early age with strong foundations in mathematics, science, and innovation.
He said the planned Math Labs would be part of efforts to create a modern, engaging, and future-ready learning environment in primary education.
Referring to the government’s election manifesto and what he described as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s education vision, he said the goal is to bring a fundamental transformation to the country’s primary education system.
“We are committed to building a primary education system where every student has equal opportunities to become future scientists, engineers, researchers and technology innovators. The Math Lab is an important and revolutionary step towards that goal,” he said.
He added that the initiative would help make primary education more modern, skill-based, internationally aligned, and technology-friendly, contributing to the development of a smart and knowledge-based Bangladesh.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, teachers, students, and guardians were present at the programme.
