Biman Bangladesh Airlines has cancelled two more flights on the Dhaka-Riyadh route, taking the national flag carrier’s total cancellations since Saturday to four, following the closure of King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Biman said the airport authorities had extended the suspension of operations until 3am on 12 October, Bangladesh time.
As a result, flights BG 339 and BG 340, scheduled for Sunday and Monday, will remain suspended.
The airline said further details on flight operations and revised schedules would be announced at noon on Monday.
Biman expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and sought their cooperation.
Meanwhile, five flights operated by other airlines on the Dhaka-Riyadh route had been cancelled by Sunday noon, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
CAAB said the cancellations followed the closure of Riyadh airport.
The disruption came after a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport late Saturday, which killed 12 people, including two Bangladeshis, and injured more than 300 others.
Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority confirmed the casualties early Sunday, saying several of the injured remained in critical condition.
The Saudi-led coalition blamed Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen for the attack.
