A man was hacked to death by rival drug dealers at the Hajir Math area of Masdair Gudaraghat in Fatullah, Narayanganj at around 9:30pm on Monday.
Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Mannan confirmed the matter. The victim was identified as Emon. He was killed shortly after being released from prison on bail after serving one and a half months in jail in a drug case.
According to the victim’s relatives, Emon served as a police informant, which led to a long-standing dispute over the local drug trade with individuals identified as Zahid and Chokkhu Hridoy.
He returned home at 7:30pm. Shortly after his arrival, a man named Ferdous reportedly called Emon on his mobile phone and got him out of the house.
Subsequently, several individuals, including Zahid, Chokkhu Hridoy, and Hridoy, attacked Emon and hacked him to death before fleeing the scene. His relatives have demanded the arrest and trial of those involved in the killing.
OC Abdul stated that multiple police teams are conducting raids to arrest those involved in the murder. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
