After nearly five years apart on screen, popular acting duo Mosharraf Karim and Faruque Ahmed are back together in the new drama Chairman Er Husband.
The pair have previously appeared together in several popular dramas, often as contrasting characters. Mosharraf usually played the clever, dishonest one, while Faruque portrayed his simple and honest friend.
Their collaborations include Behind the Scene, Fad O Bogar Golpo, Moneybag and Mir Jafor Er Mrittu Chai. Many of their dramas still draw millions of views online, while clips regularly go viral on Facebook.
“We used to work together regularly. Viewers often ask why we do not act together like before. We both want to work as well. I also miss the work we did together,” Faruque said.
He believes suitable scripts and roles have become less common. “Simply acting together is not enough. We need a script where there is scope for a combination between Mosharraf and me,” he said.
Recalling a Redoan Rony story, Faruque said their chemistry worked because they understood each other well. He compared their pairing to the three characters in Humayun Ahmed’s Tara Tinjon and said they would gladly reunite for a similar story.
In Chairman Er Husband, they play brothers. Faruque is the elder, whose bizarre actions often spark arguments with his younger brother, played by Mosharraf.
“Once again, the work has turned out well. I hope the audience will like it. I enjoyed working with Mosharraf again after such a long time,” Faruque said.
Director Sujit Biswas said the drama was recently filmed in Pubail, Gazipur. Neelanjona Neela, Saika Ahmed, Nure Alam Nayan and Siddiq Master also star. The drama will be released on YouTube soon.
