Islamic Shariah provides no prohibition on entering into matrimony during the holy month of Ramadan, as marriage is considered permissible at any time of the year.

Ramadan is a unique month for attaining spiritual rewards through fasting, obligatory prayers, Tarawih, and the recitation of the Holy Quran, it does not restrict the act of marriage.

However, scholars highlight specific conditions for those considering a wedding during this period.

As fasting requires abstention from food, drink, and marital relations from dawn (Fajr) until sunset, marriage is deemed acceptable for individuals who possess the self-control to avoid actions that would invalidate their fast.

Conversely, if an individual believes that the busyness associated with a wedding will interfere with their Ibadah (worship) during Ramadan, they are permitted to postpone the ceremony.

This guidance is rooted in the Holy Quran, specifically Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat 187, which clarifies the boundaries for believers.

The verse states that marital relations are permitted during the nights of Ramadan until the “white thread of dawn becomes distinct from the black thread,” at which point the fast must be observed until nightfall.

The scripture further notes that such relations are prohibited while in a state of Itikaf within the mosque, as these are the limits set by Allah.
