Pohel Chakma, independent candidate for the Rangamati-299 constituency, has alleged that a polling centre in Baghaichari upazila was occupied by BNP supporters.

He made the allegation while speaking to journalists after casting his vote at Jogendra Government Primary School in the upazila on Thursday. He further claimed that voters had been threatened since Wednesday.

Pohel said, “Voters have been casting their votes since morning. If a fair election is held, there will be a vote revolution for the Football symbol.”

However, Dipen Dewan, BNP candidate in the same constituency, denied these allegations.

The Rangamati constituency comprises 10 upazilas, 50 unions, and two municipalities, with a total of 213 polling centres. There are 509,267 voters in the seat, of whom 263,410 are men and 245,855 are women.
