Ferran Torres marked his Paris Saint Germain debut in Europe with a hat trick as the Champions League holders began their title defence with a 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday.
Torres, who joined PSG from Barcelona during the summer, took his tally to five goals since arriving in Paris and quickly showed why Luis Enrique has placed his trust in the forward.
Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the 17th minute after reacting fastest to a rebound when Nuno Mendes shot struck the post. The Ballon dOr winner doubled the lead six minutes later with a header from Dro Fernandez cross.
Dembele then turned provider, setting up Torres for his first goal of the night as PSG moved 3-0 ahead before half-time.
Torres added his second shortly after the restart with an excellent finish from the edge of the area. The Spain international controlled Maghnes Akliouche pass before curling the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
He completed his hat trick in the 57th minute, guiding Dembele corner into the net to cap an outstanding individual display.
Slovan pulled one back moments later through Suleiman Camara, who produced a fine finish, but PSG remained in complete control.
Fabian Ruiz added a sixth late on after Slovan surrendered possession inside their own area, sealing a comfortable victory for the hosts.
PSG dominated the contest with 35 shots, including 13 on target, as the Slovakian champions struggled to cope with the pace and movement of the French sides attack.
The victory was a timely response from Enrique team after a difficult start to the domestic season. PSG had gone four games without a win before Wednesday, while also losing the French Super Cup to Lens.
Torres emergence gives Enrique another attacking option following the departures of Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remained on the bench, while Akliouche impressed alongside Torres and Dembele.
For Torres, though, the night belonged entirely to him. His three goals provided the perfect introduction to PSG Champions League title defence.
