The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 392 individuals in raids across various areas of the capital in the last 24 hours, as part of its Operation Devil Hunt, Phase 2
This information was provided in a press release sent by Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department, Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
DMP stated that among those arrested in the operation conducted from Monday at 12:01 AM to Tuesday at 11:59 PM, there are 15 active leaders and activists of the Awami League, which has had its activities banned, along with its associated bodies. Additionally, there are 377 individuals who are warrant-accused or charge-sheeted accused in various cases.
The press release further stated that this operation was conducted as part of the ongoing police activities to maintain a normal law and order situation in the capital.
Meanwhile, to ensure public security, DMP conducted special checkpoints at 11 entry and exit points of the capital from Wednesday 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
At the checkpoints, 769 various types of vehicles were searched, and during this time, five individuals were arrested.
The press release also stated that such operations by DMP will continue to uphold the law-and-order situation in the capital.
