Omoda Jaecoo has launched the Jaecoo J7 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle at a motor show in Dhaka, marking its entry into Bangladesh’s premium hybrid mobility segment, the company said in a press release.
The launch event was attended by Omoda Jaecoo Director Shaidur Rahman, Asian Holdings Executive Director Zahed Hossain and Omoda Jaecoo Executive Director Shadiqul Mostuk, alongside automotive enthusiasts and industry representatives.
The Jaecoo J7 is powered by a fifth-generation 1.5 TDGI dedicated hybrid engine paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission, delivering a combined output of 341 brake horsepower and 525 Newton metres of torque. The vehicle has a top speed of 180 kilometres per hour.
Designed for efficiency, the sport utility vehicle offers a combined driving range of more than 1,350 kilometres under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Cycle. Its 18.3 kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery provides over 100 kilometres of pure electric range, with an estimated running cost of Tk2.20 per kilometre in electric mode.
The battery supports fast charging, enabling a charge from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in around 20 minutes.
Built for local conditions, the vehicle features a water wading capacity of up to 600 millimetres to handle monsoon flooding. It has received a five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme and includes eight airbags, high-strength steel construction and advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and a 540-degree panoramic camera.
The interior includes a 14.8-inch touchscreen, ventilated eco-leather seats and a vehicle-to-load function capable of supplying up to 3.3 kilowatts of external power for appliances.
