Nagad Ltd has arranged a two-day book fair at its head office in Banani, offering employees discounts on local and foreign titles to encourage reading.
The “Nagad-Prothoma Boibandhon” event began on Monday in collaboration with prothoma.com, said a press release.
Prothom Alo Executive Editor and poet Sajjad Sharif attended the inauguration. He said the reading habit among people has declined in recent years.
“A society advances through study and education,” he said. “No matter how times change, there is no alternative to reading. A nation can excel only through reading.”
Nagad Administrator Md Motasem Billah said the initiative would offer employees a different experience amid the busy schedules and monotony of corporate life.
Employees will receive a 20 per cent discount on local books published by Prothoma and a 5 per cent discount on foreign titles. Customers paying via Nagad’s Bangla QR code get an additional discount.
Nagad’s Human Resources Division organised the event. Nagad and Prothoma.com previously organised a similar book fair in January 2024.
