Mrunal Thakur has criticised the online judgement of women, coming out in support of Katrina Kaif and Kriti Sanon after both actors faced social media backlash over personal choices.
Speaking to Press Trust of India (PTI), Mrunal highlighted their contributions to the film industry and business, urging people to respect their decisions rather than focus on criticism.
“Be it Kriti or Katrina, they are running a business not just in India but everywhere in the UK and all. I think people should not comment on anyone else,” she said.
Mrunal added that women have long faced constant scrutiny, although men are increasingly subjected to similar judgement.
Katrina faced body-shaming after attending the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations last month, with online users commenting on her post-pregnancy weight. She later addressed the issue at a London event for her brand, saying social media conversations should not be allowed to “paralyse” her.
Kriti, meanwhile, faced criticism over her outfit in a jewellery advertisement released during Raksha Bandhan. The advertisement was withdrawn following the backlash. Defending herself, Kriti said culture and traditions reside “in a woman’s heart, not in her neckline”.
