Popular Bangladeshi actress Moushumi, who has been living in the United States since 2023, recently delighted audiences by performing on stage alongside renowned singer Dinat Jahan Munni at a cultural event in New York.
The event took place on 31 July at Rockaway Beach in Queens, where Munni was performing. During her set, she invited her long-time friend Moushumi to join her on stage.
Moushumi performed the iconic song “O Amar Bondhugo Chirosathi Pothcholar” from her debut film Keyamat Theke Keyamat, along with its Hindi version, “Ae Mere Humsafar”.
Audience members enthusiastically sang along, turning the performance into one of the evening’s highlights.
Sharing her experience, Moushumi said she has always enjoyed singing.
“There was a time when I sang regularly. I even recorded playback songs for films. Whenever we had informal gatherings in Dhaka, people would ask me to sing. The same happens here in the US. At yesterday’s event, Munni invited me to the stage, and I sang O Amar Bondhugo Chirosathi Pothcholar and Ae Mere Humsafar. These are songs that almost everyone knows, so the audience joined in from the very beginning. I truly enjoyed the experience and thank everyone who continues to encourage me to sing,” she said.
Dinat Jahan Munni described the performance as a memorable moment.
“Whenever Moushumi and I are together, time flies. During my performance at Rockaway Beach, I invited her to the stage. She has a dedicated fan base both at home and abroad, so the audience always becomes excited when she appears. This event was no exception. Moushumi is also a wonderful singer with an excellent voice, pitch and rhythm,” Munni said.
Munni also performed her solo songs “O Karigor Doyar Sagor” and “O Priyo, Ami Tomar Hote Chai” during the programme.
Moushumi’s most recent film releases were Deshantor and Bhangan.
Although she has not appeared in a new film since then, the actress said she plans to return to acting after coming back to Bangladesh.
According to Moushumi, several new scripts have already been written with her in mind, and filmmakers are waiting for her return.
