Three more children suspected of having measles died in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from the ongoing outbreak to 840, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A statement issued by the DGHS Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room on Saturday said the latest deaths were reported from Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions, with one death recorded in each division.
Since 15 March, a total of 840 measles-related deaths have been reported nationwide, including 744 deaths among suspected cases and 96 laboratory-confirmed deaths, the DGHS said.
The health authorities also detected 751 new suspected measles cases and 121 confirmed cases during the period.
Dhaka division recorded the highest number of suspected cases, with 269 patients identified.
In the last 24 hours, 687 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, while 538 patients recovered and were discharged, according to the bulletin.
An analysis of the outbreak situation from 15 March to 1 August shows that the number of suspected measles cases has reached 129,061, while laboratory-confirmed cases stand at 16,180.
During the same period, 111,674 measles patients received hospital treatment, of whom 107,397 were discharged after recovery.
