Restoring public peace by maintaining law and order in Dhaka is the first challenge for new DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed.
In an interview with Times of Bangladesh after assuming office on Monday, Mosleh pledged swift measures, saying no one would escape accountability for crimes.
He took charge in the morning after moving from his post as additional IGP, following a government notification issued Sunday.
He said the government’s timely decisions to ease traffic congestion would be implemented quickly through modern management systems, including stopping haphazard parking and intensifying drives to reclaim occupied footpaths.
Mosleh identified drug abuse as one of Dhaka’s major problems and vowed to strengthen anti‑drug operations while adopting a tougher stance against “teen gangs.” Monitoring will also be increased to ensure citizens receive proper remedies at police stations without harassment.
He added that modern technology, intelligence, and multiple sources would be expanded in crime control, expressing his commitment to building a “people‑friendly” police force.
