The government has appointed Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, additional inspector general of police of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
This appointment was confirmed in a notification issued by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday. The order was signed by Towshif Ahmed, deputy secretary of the ministry.
The post of DMP commissioner became vacant following the retirement of the then acting commissioner Md Sarwar on 14 May, upon the completion of his government service tenure.
Since his departure, Additional Commissioner Nazrul Islam has been performing the duties of the office. According to the notification, the order has been issued in public interest and will take immediate effect.
