Popular content creator and actress Kaarina Kaisar was laid to rest in Gazaria, Munshiganj, on Monday morning after a final funeral prayer attended by local residents and family members.
Her final janaza was held at around 7:00 am in Abdullahpur village behind Bhoberchar bus stand in Gazaria upazila. Following the prayer, she was buried in the courtyard of her grandmother’s garden house.
Kaarina was the daughter of former national football star Kaisar Hamid and educator Lopa Kaisar.
According to family sources, her body was taken to Gazaria on Sunday night after funeral prayers in Dhaka and a public tribute ceremony at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Family members said the burial and funeral arrangements in Munshiganj were kept private. Media personnel and visitors were requested to stay away from the burial site, while mobile phones and cameras were not permitted inside the area.
Speaking after the burial, Kaarina’s younger brother Sadat Hamid said, “Three funeral prayers were held in Dhaka where media personnel were present. But during the burial, no media was allowed entry according to the family’s decision. We came to the village mainly to stay away from publicity and excessive crowds. We hope everyone understands our mental state and the situation.”
Kaarina died on Friday, May 15, while receiving treatment at a hospital in Chennai, India, after suffering from prolonged liver-related complications.
Her body arrived in Dhaka by air on Sunday afternoon, where her father Kaisar Hamid and other relatives received it in an emotional moment at the airport.
After funeral rites in the capital and public tributes at the Shaheed Minar, the body was transported to Munshiganj for burial.
