Popular Bangladeshi singer Sujana Rupa is set to release four new original songs.
Rupa began her musical journey after receiving formal training from legendary singers Bashir Ahmed and Kalipada Das. Her first original song was Jodi Tumi Bolo, written and composed by noted lyricist, composer and singer Ashraf Babu. She later won the appreciation of listeners with several other songs.
Two of her upcoming releases are titled Rupkanya and Tor Kotha Je Bhulte Parbo Na. Rupkanya was written and composed by Rustam Mallik, while Tor Kotha Je Bhulte Parbo Na was written by Liaquat Ali Biswas and composed by Ashraf Babu.
Rupa said she would share details about the other two songs later. A music video for Rupkanya is scheduled to be filmed next week, with the song expected to be released on YouTube soon afterwards.
The singer is the only child of late Anwar Hossain and late Laila Kaniz. Ashraf Babu is her paternal uncle.
During her career, Rupa has also performed duets with singers including Atik Hasan, Rajib, Apu Aman and Palash.
Speaking about her musical influences, Rupa said, “My biggest inspirations are respected singers Runa Laila madam and Sabina Yasmin madam. I especially love Runa madam’s Jokhon Thamবে Kolahol and Sabina madam’s Shoto Jonomer Shopno.”
She added, “I am very hopeful about my upcoming songs, especially Rupkanya. I really love its lyrics and melody.”
Rupa recently performed at an event held at the China-Maitree Conference Centre in the capital on 5 September. Her birthday is on 14 November.
