Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah has stressed the vital role of media in ensuring transparent election.
He made the remarks while inaugurating a day-long training programme for journalists on Wednesday at the Election Training Institute ahead of the upcoming 13th national election.
Sanaullah added that there is no substitute for a good election in the interest of the country. He said the upcoming election will be of a different dimension in the history of Bangladesh.
He stated, “Over the last 15 years, the election system has been extensively damaged. Everyone has a responsibility to work towards overcoming this.”
He also mentioned that, on average, it takes each voter about three to three and a half minutes to cast two votes simultaneously. He further assured unhindered movement of the media during voting hours.
