A security guard was killed and his friend injured after their motorcycle lost control and crashed into a road divider on the Mayor Hanif Flyover in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area.
The deceased was identified as Chan Miah Kabir, 32, a security guard at Sonali Bank in Motijheel. He lived at Gopibagh’s 3rd Lane area under Wari.
The injured person was identified as his friend Suman Miah, 24.
The accident occurred around 12:30am on Thursday night. Passers-by rescued the two injured men and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Kabir died while undergoing treatment at DMCH around 8:30am on Friday.
According to Kabir’s roommate Paban Chandra Das, Kabir and Suman went out on a motorcycle on Thursday night. Later, he received information that the motorcycle had lost control and hit a divider on the Mayor Hanif Flyover in Jatrabari, leaving both riders critically injured.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, said Kabir’s body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
He added that relatives had shifted injured Suman to a private hospital for further treatment.
