The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light rain in the capital on Saturday, accompanied by a slight drop in daytime temperatures.

According to the forecast issued by the Storm Warning Centre for the six hours from 7am Saturday, the sky over Dhaka is expected to remain cloudy to partly cloudy, with light rain or drizzle likely in some areas.

Winds may blow from the south or southeast at speeds of 10–15 kilometers per hour, the forecast said. The temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 27.5°C at 6am, with 92% humidity in the air.

Meanwhile, the BMD said a well-marked low over north Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas has moved north-northeastward and now lies over Bihar and nearby regions. It is expected to continue moving in the same direction and gradually weaken into a low-pressure area.

A new low-pressure system is also likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas within the next 48 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions, at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places over Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions, the weather office said.

Daytime temperatures across the country may drop by 1 to 2°C, while night temperatures may fall slightly.

On Friday, the capital’s maximum temperature was 34.5°C, while the lowest temperature recorded Saturday was 27.2°C, according to the Met office.

On Saturday, sunset will be at 5:19pm, and sunrise Sunday at 6:05am.
