Sandra Bullock has opened the door to a third Practical Magic film, with the actor suggesting that the franchise could continue if the upcoming sequel performs well at the box office.

According to Deadline, Bullock will return as Sally Owens in Practical Magic 2, which arrives on 10 September. She said a third film could happen if the sequel becomes a success, with the franchise potentially passing to Sally’s onscreen daughters.

“We’ll do a number three if this takes off,” Bullock told Vanity Fair. “And we’ll pass the torch to the girls.”

Joey King and Maisie Williams play Kylie and Antonia, Sally’s daughters, in the sequel. They take over the roles previously played by Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip in the original 1998 film.

Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2. Directed by Susanne Bier, the sequel returns to the family’s world of ancestral magic and moonlit mischief. The Owens sisters must confront a dark curse threatening to tear their family apart.

Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett and Kelly Marcel wrote the screenplay. The story draws from Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic, her 2021 follow-up to the 1995 novel Practical Magic.

The franchise could also explore the Owens family’s history through Hoffman’s earlier prequel novels. The Rules of Magic, published in 2017, and Magic Lessons, published in 2020, both delve into the family’s past.

For now, however, Practical Magic 3 remains a possibility rather than a confirmed project. Its future appears to depend on how the second film performs.
