Steel manufacturer KSRM has donated advanced medical equipment worth nearly Tk2 crore to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), adding diagnostic and dialysis capacity at one of the country’s largest public hospitals.
The equipment was handed over at a ceremony at the hospital on Saturday. KSRM Deputy Managing Director Selim Uddin presented the equipment to Health Ministry Additional Secretary (Budget) Arif Ahmed and CMCH Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin.
The donation includes four haemodialysis machines, four real-time 4D ultrasound machines and a GE Color Doppler imaging system. Hospital officials said the equipment would strengthen diagnostic and emergency care, particularly for critically ill patients.
Speaking at the event, Arif Ahmed said the budget allocated for the 2,200-bed hospital is often insufficient to meet growing demand for healthcare services.
“As a result, many underprivileged patients struggle to afford proper treatment. KSRM’s contribution will greatly benefit patients and improve the hospital’s service capacity,” he said, urging other industrial groups to provide similar support.
“In every crisis, KSRM is among the first to respond. We consider the company a trusted partner in humanitarian initiatives. These advanced medical devices will help save the lives of critically ill patients and ensure better healthcare services at affordable costs,” he said.
KSRM Director (Sales and Marketing) Jasim Uddin said the company would continue supporting initiatives aimed at public welfare.
Senior officials from KSRM and Chattogram Medical College Hospital also attended the handover ceremony.
