A Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kalabagan Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been missing since Tuesday afternoon.
The officer, identified as 32-year-old Rakibul Hasan Sarkar, was last located in the Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka. His personal mobile phone has been switched off since that time.
A General Diary (GD) has been filed regarding the disappearance, and a wireless message has been dispatched from Kalabagan Police Station to all police stations across the country to assist in the search.
Police sources say that Rakibul left temporary barracks under Kalabagan Police Station at approximately 5:30pm on Tuesday. He was dressed in civilian clothes and failed to report for his scheduled duty. He has not been seen or heard from since.
Rakibul is a resident of Bapta village in the Sreepur Upazila of Gazipur and is the son of Maiz Uddin Sarkar. He is described as being approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a dusky complexion, a round face, and short black hair.
Masud Alam, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Ramna Division, confirmed that the police are treating the matter with gravity and are actively working to locate him. According to the officer’s family, Rakibul had gone missing on several previous occasions.
