BTS member Jung Kook has once again spoken about the importance of respecting personal boundaries after sharing an uncomfortable encounter with a fan in public, writes Hindustan Times.
During a Weverse live session on 27 July, the singer recalled an incident where a fan pointed a camera directly at him without permission while he was visiting a bakery.
Jung Kook said such behaviour was disrespectful and reminded fans that celebrities also deserve privacy.
Jung Kook shared that he had recently watched the Korean film Hope alone.
After leaving the theatre, some fans recognised him and politely asked for photographs.
He agreed to take pictures because they approached him respectfully.
However, he described a different experience at a bakery where someone suddenly stood in front of him with a camera.
“I had gone into a bakery to buy some bread, and all of a sudden there was someone standing right in front of me with a camera pointed at me,” he said, according to a fan translation.
The BTS singer added that such actions were inappropriate regardless of a person’s age or background.
He said fans should understand that suddenly putting a camera in someone’s face can make them uncomfortable.
Jung Kook highlighted that the difference between the two situations was respect.
He appreciated fans who asked for permission and interacted with him politely, saying those moments allowed him to enjoy connecting with supporters.
This is not the first time Jung Kook has addressed boundaries between artists and fans.
In June, during a Weverse livestream after BTS’ Madrid concerts, he responded to fans repeatedly asking him to go to sleep.
While he acknowledged their concern, he reminded them that decisions about his personal routine were his own.
Meanwhile, BTS is preparing to resume its Arirang World Tour.
The group, featuring RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, will return to the stage on 1 August with two concerts at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
The tour will continue with shows in Foxborough, Baltimore, Arlington, Toronto and Chicago throughout August.
