Advocate Golam Sarwar Khan Jewel, Public Prosecutor (PP) of Pabna District Judge Court, confirmed the submission of the charge sheet but mentioned that he had yet to receive an official copy. “The investigating officer informed me over the phone that the charge sheet has been submitted to the court tonight. However, I have not yet received a copy or duplicate. The case’s initial complaint mentioned charges against 103 individuals, and it appears one of them has passed away naturally. According to the investigation, an additional 34 individuals have been added as accused. No names were omitted from the original complaint. Further details will be available once I receive the official copy,” he said.

The case stems from the tragic events of August 4, 2024, during an anti-discrimination student movement in Pabna. A violent attack and shooting occurred at the city’s Traffic Mor, allegedly orchestrated by Abu Saeed, the Organizational Secretary of the Sadar Upazila Awami League, alongside members of the Awami League and its affiliates.

The attack resulted in the deaths of Jahidul Islam, 18, son of Dulal Uddin from Char Ballampur village, and Mahbub Hossain Niloy, 16, son of Abul Kalam from Hajirhat Betepura village, a student of Siddique Memorial School.

On August 10, 2024, the father of the deceased student Jahidul Islam, Dulal Uddin, filed a case at Sadar Police Station, naming Abu Saeed, the former Chairman of Vararah Union Parishad and Organizational Secretary of the Sadar Upazila Awami League, as well as former Member of Parliament Golam Faruk Prince, and several other leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations as accused in the case.
