West Bengal actor Prosenjit Chatterjee turned 64 on Tuesday, marking more than four decades in Tollywood. Known as ‘Mr Industry’, he has moved from commercial cinema to a diverse range of challenging roles.

Speaking to Anandabazar on his birthday, Prosenjit said finding fresh characters has become increasingly difficult after playing so many different roles over the past decade.

“I’ve done so many characters. Now I have to think about what new I can do,” he said, adding that choosing roles has become a challenge because there are fewer characters he has not explored.

Despite this, the actor continues to experiment. This year, he has played a rockstar and a doctor in two films.

Asked about a role he still wants to attempt, Prosenjit said he would like to play a character similar to Marlon Brando’s in ‘The Godfather’.

Born to actor Biswajit Chatterjee and actress Pallavi Chatterjee, he began as a child actor and made his lead debut with ‘Duti Pata’ in 1983.
