Janata Bank PLC called on its branch managers to assess borrowers’ repayment intent before approving loans, as the state-owned lender seeks to strengthen credit discipline across its network.
The directive came from Janata Bank Chairman M Fazlur Rahman while addressing the bank’s Bogura divisional branch managers’ conference held at a local conference centre on Wednesday, 4 March.
Janata Bank Bogura Divisional Office General Manager-in-Charge Md Abdul Alim Khan presided over the conference, while Janata Bank Deputy Managing Director Kazi Abdur Rahman attended as a special guest.
Area heads of the divisional office, along with concerned executives and branch managers, also took part in the meeting.
Rahman instructed officials to prioritise lending to reliable customers after evaluating whether borrowers possess both the willingness and capacity to repay their loans.
