To bring the career aspirations of young graduates closer to reality, the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) organised one of the country’s largest employment-focused events, the “Dhaka Bank Presents IUBAT Career Festival 2025.”
The day-long festival was held on Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm on the university’s green and serene campus, drawing participation from more than 130 renowned local and international organisations, according to a press release.
As in previous years, the event was arranged by the university’s Branding and Public Relations Office, with the objective of easing students’ transition into the job market and strengthening the bridge between academia and the corporate sector.
This year’s festival surpassed previous editions in terms of participation, scale, recruitment opportunities, and corporate engagement.
A diverse mix of organisations joined the event, including leading corporates, banks, telecom companies, e-commerce firms, IT service providers, healthcare institutions, manufacturing industries, hospitality brands, NGOs, and agribusiness enterprises.
International companies, multinational firms, and overseas employment organisations also took part, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of career opportunities.
Thousands of students, graduates, and job seekers visited company booths throughout the day.
This year, employers offered more than 1,200 job vacancies and conducted on-the-spot CV collection, preliminary screening, written assessments, group discussions, and interviews to shortlist potential candidates, said in a press release.
The primary objective of the Career Festival was to connect students directly with employers, helping them gain insight into real-time job market demands, required skill sets, job responsibilities, career pathways, compensation structures, and prospects for professional growth.
Students expressed highly positive feedback, noting that direct conversations with HR professionals helped them evaluate their strengths, preparedness, and areas needing improvement.
HR representatives provided practical guidance on CV development, interview techniques, identifying suitable job roles, and adapting to corporate culture.
Many students received preliminary selection offers during the festival, while others were shortlisted for the next stages of recruitment.
Sectors such as IT, banking, digital marketing, data analytics, hospitality, and engineering recorded particularly strong interest.
A major attraction of this year’s edition was a series of 10 Career Sessions conducted by distinguished HR experts from various industries, said a press release.
Hundreds of students attended the sessions, which highlighted emerging employment trends, the importance of internships, CV and cover letter preparation, interview confidence, corporate etiquette and communication, leadership and teamwork, digital skills, and new job opportunities arising from advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Students said the sessions broadened their understanding of career planning and future opportunities.
A special panel discussion, held in the afternoon, brought together top corporate leaders, successful entrepreneurs, and prominent HR professionals.
The panel explored key issues including the current employment landscape in Bangladesh, evolving corporate requirements, skill gaps among graduates, enhanced academia–industry collaboration, and essential workplace values such as ethics, transparency, and professional culture.
Panelists emphasised that while academic degrees hold value, long-term career success depends on practical skills, a positive mindset, and hands-on experience.
The most anticipated segment of the festival was the on-the-spot interview sessions.
Several companies conducted interviews throughout the day in designated blocks, seminar rooms, and booth areas.
Many students experienced their first corporate interview on campus. University faculty, staff, and volunteers ensured smooth coordination of logistical support to facilitate the recruitment process.
Since its establishment, IUBAT has prioritised student employability through campus recruitment drives, internship placements, and corporate partnerships.
The Career Festival further strengthened these efforts, giving employers the opportunity to directly observe students’ potential and assess the quality of education offered by the university.
This engagement enhances IUBAT’s reputation, corporate trust, and recruitment outcomes, said a press release.
Students left the festival with visible confidence and enthusiasm. Many said the experience helped them understand job market expectations realistically and motivated them to strengthen essential skills such as digital literacy, communication, presentation, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management, said a press release.
