Jamaat-e-Islami A T M Azharul Islam has said that a major surprise will emerge in the country’s politics before the 13th national parliamentary election.
He said, “There is still a long way to go before the election. An even bigger surprise is coming. With the people beside us, Jamaat will present something that will bring a new turn in the country’s politics.”
He made these remarks on Sunday morning at an event organised by the Kishoreganj Upazila unit of Jamaat in the new Teparhat area of Garagram Union in Nilphamari.
At the event, corrugated tins were distributed among 90 families affected by the recent cyclone.
At a time when new equations are forming in the country’s political arena ahead of the upcoming national election and curiosity is intensifying over political polarisation, Jamaat has now hinted at a new surprise.
Urging locals to vote for the Daripalla (balance scale) symbol, ATM Azhar said, “We have never been given the responsibility of running the state. You have seen the boat, you have seen the paddy sheaf, and you have also seen the Jatiya Party. This time, give our Daripalla a chance. We will prove our ability to run the country. If we fail, do not vote for us again.”
Saying that Jamaat wants to establish Islam in Bangladesh, he added, “Islam cannot be established only through movements. One must become a majority in parliament by the people’s vote. If Allah grants us the opportunity, we will work for the happiness and peace of people on the basis of Islam. This will benefit not only Muslims but also non-Muslims—this is Allah’s decree.”
The Jamaat leader alleged that despite Bangladesh having immense resources, hundreds of billions of taka have been laundered due to a lack of moral leadership.
