Uber has named S M Jamshed Hasan as its new Bangladesh country head as the ride-hailing company seeks to expand its mobility business and strengthen its position in the local market.

In his new role, Jamshed will oversee Uber’s business and operations in Bangladesh as the company looks to build on its decade-long presence and explore new growth opportunities, according to a company press release.

He brings more than 15 years of experience in sales, business development, strategic partnerships and commercial leadership across fintech, logistics and insurance sectors.

Before joining Uber, Jamshed served as Vice President of Business and Growth at Wagely Bangladesh, where he led business expansion initiatives and contributed to regional growth strategies.

He previously held commercial and business development roles at DHL, UPS and MetLife, gaining experience in enterprise sales, revenue growth, strategic partnerships and product development.

Uber India and South Asia Head of International Markets Akanksha Singh said Jamshed’s experience in business growth, partnerships and commercial strategy would support the company’s next phase in Bangladesh.

“We look forward to working with him to create more value for riders, driver partners and the communities we serve,” she said.

Jamshed said he would focus on addressing mobility challenges through technology while building on Uber’s existing operations in Bangladesh.

“Uber has become an important part of the mobility landscape in the country, and I look forward to working with the team to build on what we have created over the last ten years,” he said.

Uber started operations in Bangladesh in 2016, aiming to make urban mobility more accessible through technology. Over the years, the platform has expanded its services across the country, connecting riders with drivers while creating earning opportunities for driver partners.

Uber has served more than 7.2 million riders and created livelihoods for more than 350,000 drivers in Bangladesh till 2024, the company added.
