A massive joint drill of law enforcement agencies has been held in Lalmonirhat to demonstrate their strength in tackling any kind of violence or sabotage-related situation ahead of the upcoming 13th national Parliamentary election and referendum 2026.
On Thursday afternoon, this drill was conducted by setting up Nesarani Kamil Madrasa in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila as a model polling station. Essentially, this event was organised to fine-tune the forces’ capabilities in ensuring voter security at the polling grounds and suppressing miscreants.
Members of the army, RAB, BGB, police, and Ansar forces collectively participated in this security drill around the polling station.
A simulated situation was created during the drill, where a group of miscreants was seen attempting to seize the polling station and create panic among voters. They started processions with sticks and arson to disrupt voting.
The presiding officer in charge of the polling station was confined. Initially, the law enforcement personnel at the polling centre tried to control the miscreants. Unable to manage the situation, the matter was reported to higher authorities.
Subsequently, members of the law enforcement forces arrived there in coordination and used tactics to bring the situation under control. The miscreants were arrested, and voting resumed. Additionally, the active participation of Fire Service members in firefighting was also observed in this drill.
Security officials stated that this is not a conventional drill. The drill has been held as part of preparations to deliver a free and fair election. All forces are now ready to work under a single command to face any challenge.
The main objectives of this drill are to create an atmosphere of confidence among ordinary voters and to deliver a strict warning to miscreants.
